Hearts and Crafts: Ethical Imports is the brainchild of Carolina D’Andrea. The idea for starting a Fair Trade business came to her during her time studying International Development at the University of Guelph. While at school she spent 4 months in Guatemala studying the positive impact that artisan cooperatives had on their communities and was inspired to help bring these products to a wider market.

Currently Carolina sells gifts and accessories from Mexico, Colombia, Nepal, Cambodia and also parts of Africa.  accessories from Mexico, Colombia, Nepal, Cambodia and also parts of Africa. The products are all handmade and are either certified Fair Trade or else purchased directly from the artisans themselves. Carolina is also able to use her creative talents through her Handmade Originals line of jewellery, where she combines natural, handmade and fair trade materials to create fashionable earrings and necklaces.

With Hearts and Crafts, Carolina has found her passion. She uses her creativity, Spanish-language skills and education, as well as her love for working with people, to bring more Fair Trade products to the retail market while spreading awareness for consumer consciousness.

Carolina and her line of Hearts and Crafts can be found year round at Store 54, online at www.heartsandcrafts.ca and we can look forward to finding both Carolina and her products in various markets and events for Summer 2012.

Store 54 is conveniently located in downtown Collingwood at 54 Hurontario Street.
